Universal Studios - Universal City
Universal Studios is probably the least child friendly theme park in California. But it's also cheap ($77 for an Annual Pass) and close by (15 minutes away). I go enough times with Liamilo to make it worth getting the Premium Star Pass ($144) since it includes free parking and no black out dates. Liamilo loves Waterworld, Shrek 4-D, Universal's Animal Actors, and playing in Curious George Land. Recently I gambled with his fragile psyche and took him onto the new Tram ride with the King Kong 360. He actually seemed to like it (in retrospect) when we came out of the tunnel and he didn't seem too traumatized. Here's a video of the King Kong portion of the ride so you can make an informed decision as to whether you should take your kid or not. Keep in mind that it's loud, jerky, and in 3d.
